I am currently testing out an Eero 3 pack from Best Buy since our bedroom is fairly far from the ATT gateway and was getting only about 40 - 100 down. All you need is a powered Ethernet switch. Have the ont cable go into the powered switch. Fire up up att modem/router which is connected to switch, wait for all green lights go into settings and copy the MAC address. Assign your router of choice the same MAC address. Unplug att router from switch and plug in your router.

Well, I have AT&T fiber and haven’t used a modem in decades. If your connection is like mine the fiber terminates in an ONT with Ethernet from that running into their gateway.
