How do i get a steward in skyrim.
I am trying to keep Farkas as my not-a-follower follower by keeping Proving Honor unfinished. Some time late in the game I decided to build a homestead and therefore need a steward. Unfortunately, the standard way to do that is getting a follower, bringing them to the homestead, and choosing a dialog option to turn them into a steward there.

She never gives any dialogue options other than the ones she had has a follower/housecarl. I have not had any other houses. How do I get her to display the options for hiring a bard, etc.
You can have a pet in hendraheim though (hope I spelled that right) Where to buy quarried stone. I have successfully been able to move someone I have married/spouse to hendraheim along with children. Also works for tundra homestead just out side of whiterun.

He can glitch and not give the dialogue to become Thane or for the Steward to give you the dialogue to buy the land. The only way I managed to fix it was to join the Empire and take over Dawnstar. I was then able to buy land from Brina Merilis' steward.
