I'm in the market for a Marlin lever action in a pistol calibre, and thought I was leaning towards .44 mag, but that twist rate alarms me - at 1:38, why even bother? The base is just like the leupold std base, but its for the Marlin 1894. As for a scope, I have a Nikon Monarch UCC 1.5-4.5, that I picked up from a fellow MO member. I like the low power scopes for 1894's. The Nikon is a few years old, (i think its been discontinued & newer models are out now) but its a great match for my 1894P.
