However, one major difference between the .45 and 9mm bullet is the amount of expansion that occurs when the hollow point opens up. In general, a 9mm round will expand from 0.355” to around 0.6”, virtually doubling in diameter. The .357 would seemingly have penetration on it's side. So it may very well be a more potent round for a wild hog. I do not reload, but not sure if a plus P .45 ACP would offer that much more potentcy. My 1911 was stoked with my usual self defense carry rounds.
