I did loose a little velocity as my nitrided barrel "broke" back in. These loads did apper to be max in my rifle.Ability to use other powders form reduced peak pressure +100-110 fps. Reduced pressure from SMK to Berger VLD +20-25 fps. Case capacity from Rem to Bertram (-3.5 gr) - 75-80 fps. So in summary on the 338 Edge +P, 1000+ rounds at the performance level of 3000 fps w 300 Berger's.Location. Thunder Basin, WY. Feb 22, 2011. #3. I initially wondered the same thing. Until I saw that the Edge is built off the 300 RUM case, which has a little more powder capacity than the 338 RUM case has.
