you should never play on any external disk, if by external you mean connected via USB, definitely not, an internal HDD is faster than an external SSD, unless you use USB-C or thunderbolt, even then, USB can't beat Sata yet i think. Basically, the map, textures, models, etc, load WAAAAY to slow. Even the menu map takes ~3 minutes to fully load. And when I try to walk, the game keeps reloading the assets (I even managed to find some out-of-bounds stuff like dev textures lol).

Solution Found!: After the most recent patch and switching to Direct X 11 on the Larian launcher, I can now play and load on ultra settings with no problems. My biggest BG3 save is 3.5GB. It would take literally 0.5 seconds for the PS5 load process that amount of data. Edit: so I'll reiterate, if the game loads slowly on PS5 it has nothing to do with the PS5 and would load just as slow on a PS5 Pro unless Larian properly optimized the game to take advantage of such fast SSDs.
