Both my 12.5” specwar and 12” shovelnose run great. Just use hot ammo hold ur breath. Piston feels the same for all ammo and the DI varies between loads. The piston requires a heavier buffer for me. Spec war it, get a 12" piston for the shovelnose. No idea how nice the sionics is, but I got my 16" midlength di barrel chopped to 12.5 and it's fantastic. I've only tried it with my rugged Alaskan so far but I was extremely impressed with the performance, lack of gas to face and the nice tone. Shot smooth as butter.
