throttle response help needed. I posted earlier that I was having surge issues with my 620I and thought maybe it was clutch related. Well today I dug a little dipper and found the clutch is not the problem. The throttle response is my problem. The dealership sat my idle to the recommended specs, so they say.I can usually fix anything if pointed in the right direction. I recently changed the spark plugs, carburetor and fuel pump. The dealer's tech. said i need a new throttle assembly for the tune of around $800. Worse yet, he said it will happen again at around another 200 hrs.

I purchased the new clutch from Deere to get running immediately and sent the old one to the Clutch Doctor to have it fixed. I never had any issue with the replacement part so I put the fixed original primary into storage just in case. Fast forward and some jerk stole my XUV550 and its trailer. I took the insurance money and upgraded to a 590E.

On a 1996 JD Gator 4X2, serial #W004X2X020589, the gears grind when shifting from neutral to forward or reverse. The basic problem is the belt is moving at idle speed which is turning the secondary clutch. I have tried the following things to diagnose and repair without success. Slowed down idle speed to point of engine stalling.

My comment is that if the clutch is working properly, I would ignore it, reinstall the clutch and enjoy life with your Gator. If that clutch IS giving trouble, I would not put money, time and effort into reconditioning that particular core. I would invest in a rebuildable core and recondition it properly.
