I have also handled a Microgroove 336 (JM stamp) and found the quality of fit and finish between the two very similar. According to my SN (last few digits omitted) this 1895 is a 1999 model. The "JM" appears as indicated in the couple examples noted here. I'm confident this is an authentic Marlin.
