Leaving a competitive match doesn't result in any rank drops. This is why a lot more people are leaving games rescently if you've noticed it. I've reported the issue to Bungie. EDIT: It's fixed. It's a side effect of them disabling quitter penalties to work around the issues with the patch released on Tuesday.

In the current system you can win 4 games back to back with a +5 points to your rank per game. If you proceed to loose 1 game following this you can drop anywhere from 100-200points. I just dropped 200 points from a three game streak. This happened earlier as well.

Ok so what I’m hearing is that nobody (besides bungie) knows what fraction of players are in each comp rank level. 1.66 KDA for the season, in platinum and can’t get to adept. I’ve gotten very close but not to promotion series. The skill levels of my opponents are very inconsistent as are the points awarded.
