Detroit 60 series starting problems
I have a Freightliner Century with a Detroit 12.7 s60. Recently the truck has become very hard to start and has lost power specially when going up hills. I have checked and cleaned the check valve on the filter and also the check valve behind the cylinder head. But still the same difficulty in starting, I have to use starting fluid all the time.Series 60 Low Battery Voltage. Batteries are the usual problem in this case. Even if your voltmeter says things are ok when your cranking your starter is spiking your truck voltage down and your DDEC is shutting off or at best not able to provide enough voltage to fire the injectors.
