The groups defined as Radical Hebrew Israelites by the SPLC are a part of the One West or 1West ideology formed in the 1960s by Abba Bivens and named after the street address of the original school in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. Bivens called for the return to a more extreme adherence to religious text.The city was ruled by the Ancient Egyptians, the Canaanites, the Israelites, the Greeks, the Romans, the Persians, Byzantines, the Islamic Caliphates, the Crusaders, the Ottomans, and finally the British, before its division into Israeli and Jordanian sectors from 1948 to 1967.
