Jan 28, 2004 · The skips would generally increase in frequency over a period of weeks or months until I had to purchase a new CD player. I now have three separate components in my high-quality stereo system (though some would call it "mid-fi") that can play audio CDs: a NAD C541i CD player, a Pioneer PDR-609 CD recorder, and a cheap Panasonic DVD player. It's a double LP picture disc album. Brand new, never played. The other brand new LP that I was playing was KISS MTV Unplugged on yellow vinyl, and it was skipping also. I bought them at the same time, so I doubt that this is just some coincidence. I've had several other new LP's as well not skipping, but making a horrible deep scratching noise ...
