MASW survey to estimate the unit weight of municipal solid waste

It is a seismic exploration technique first introduced in GEOPHYSICS by Park et al., (1999). It evaluates ground stiffness by measuring shear-wave velocity (Vs) of subsurface in 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D for various types of geotechnical engineering projects in the most common depth range of 0-30 meters. 1D 2DUnit seismic velocities are also important for seismic reflection, seismic reflection, and MASW surveys. Unit velocities are often determined using a full wave sonic tool or a downhole seismic source (e.g., Ballard borehole seismic source) in conjunction with surface geophones or a borehole geophone (e.g. Geostuff’s triaxial borehole geophone).

For most clients, the cost-effectiveness of an MASW survey to map soil stratigraphy or bedrock depends on 1) the linear feet that can be acquired per field day when compared to an alternative technique and 2) the advantages f target resolution. Linear surveying is a series of three techniques for measuring the distance between two or more locations. The three methods of linear surveying are direct surveying, optical surveying and electronic surveying. The strength and depth of MASW velocity anomalies were sensitive to variation in coupling media (road pavement vs. grass) and the methodology of dispersion curve analysis. Post‐survey drilling supports the geophysical interpretation of seep zones related to the collapse of the older original culvert, primarily at the north toe of the dam. When MASW surveys are carried out, the focus is commonly on achieving a pa rticular investigation depth, and, therefore, on obtaining a certain value of . However, as the top-most soil layers havenormal MASW survey over soil site. This applies when a fairly heavy source is used (for example, a sledgehammer heavier than 10 pounds). There is another perspective on the farthest offset: the data processing. The resolution of a dispersion curve image increases with the total length of receiver spread (Park et al., 1998; 2001).
