The Southern Pacific GS-4 is a class of semi-streamlined 4-8-4 "Northern" type steam locomotive operated by the Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) from 1941 to 1958. A total of twenty-eight were built by the Lima Locomotive Works, numbered 4430 through 4457. GS stands for "Golden State" or "General Service."This 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive is based on the Chessie System 2101 Steam Locomotive (see all 12 pictures and 1 video which for some reason don't show up so you have to click on the - see the full gallery - button).
